Bank of Evansville Celebrates Grand Opening
with Ribbon Cutting

Evansville, IN - Bank of Evansville kicked off its grand opening celebration today at 2:00 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at its West Side Branch in conjunction with the Metropolitan Evansville Chamber of Commerce. Also present to participate in the ribbon cutting was Evansville Mayor Russ Lloyd, Jr.

Now open for a total of 50 days, the bank is ready to launch a grand opening celebration. "We've used the first month and a half as a sort of soft opening, to train our staff and fine tune the organization," said Tom Austerman, Bank of Evansville President. "Now we're ready to celebrate our opening, and deliver our great news to the Evansville community."

The bank will introduce three new grand opening special accounts - Charter Checking, Charter 9-month CD and Charter Variable Rate CD - that Austerman says offer a very competitive rate. "It's just a sample of the types of products we will offer at Bank of Evansville," he said. "We plan to be a very competitive banking force in Evansville, providing Evansville with a community-oriented choice in banking. At Bank of Evansville, we are - literally - banking the way it used to be."

Austerman also spoke of two other Bank of Evansville products that will be new to the Evansville banking community - Bank by Courier and Bank by Internet. "Bank by Courier is a service that will really benefit our business community," said Austerman. "It is essentially a mobile banking service that will pick up and deliver deposits, withdrawals, receipts, application forms and more from participating businesses." Austerman said this service will be ready for local businesses in about 60 days, and the Bank by Internet service is projected to be ready for all Bank of Evansville customers the first part of 2002.

Bank of Evansville, N.A. received authority to open its doors on July 2, 2001 from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), a department of the United States Treasury. The Bank opened its doors at the 530 N. St. Joseph Avenue office on Monday, July 2, and followed up with the opening of the 5130 Vogel Road branch the following Monday, July 9, 2001.

"The directors and staff are interested in providing the Evansville area a truly community-oriented, community-owned bank," said Thomas L. Austerman, President and CEO. "We are long time residents of the Evansville market and believe we know, understand and appreciate the needs of our local businesses and consumers. We are committed to providing the people of Evansville uncompromising personal service with a sense of urgency."

In addition to being organized and managed by long time citizens of the market, the vast majority of its more than 730 shareholders are residents of the Evansville area. Michael S. Sutton, Executive Vice President, said, "We are a true community bank, and our name, Bank of Evansville, describes the business we're in and the market we want to serve very well."

Bank of Evansville plans to differ the delivery of its products and services from other financial institutions by placing the emphasis on - and investing in - employees and customers rather than in real estate and ATMs. Linda Newman, Cashier of the Bank, said, "For example, because people rather than computers will answer the phone, we think you will get a feel for the Bank of Evansville service difference the first time you call 962-BANK."
